GAU 1000


Designed as a tool to assist in flight instruction and aircraft design, the GAU 1000 started Appareo’s work in aviation. The GAU 1000 improved upon standard GPS technology by adding gyroscopes, accelerometers, barometric pressure sensors and a solid state compass, yielding a much more comprehensive representation of the flight than is possible with GPS alone. Coupled with our AS Flight Evaluator software, the GAU 1000 is a powerful tool for teaching new pilots proper flight procedures and for reinforcing the positive habits of more experienced pilots.

Due to its small size, rugged construction and stand-alone design the GAU 1000 has also been used to track and analyze the movements of other activities, including downhill skiing, mountain biking and skydiving.
