Appareo’s flagship Airborne Image Recording System (AIRS), the Vision 1000, is a flight data recorder that can be easily installed for retrofit in a single day. With the Vision 1000, you can obtain concrete performance and safety data, qualify for reductions in insurance premiums, collect critical troubleshooting data for maintenance, and demonstrate your safety commitment to customers and passengers.

Data is easy to offload from the flight data recorder using an SD card. This data can then be monitored, analyzed, and played back using Appareo’s suite of FDM/FOQA software tools, which are the easiest flight data monitoring software tools to use on the market today.

Information Captured:

 

  • Cockpit images
  • Intercom system audio for crew and air traffic control (ATC) communications (optional)
  • WAAS GPS (latitude, longitude, ground speed, vertical speed, GPS altitude, etc.)
  • Attitude data (pitch, roll, yaw, etc.)
  • Acceleration data (G forces)
  • Rates of rotation

Initially a joint development with Airbus Helicopters, Vision 1000 gives any operator the ability to benefit from a comprehensive FDM program.

The safety team at Airbus Helicopters uses this video in its Training Center’s pilot and maintenance classes. It explains how the system captures images, audio, and inertial data to support a proactive flight data monitoring program.

The video has been shared at the NTSB’s Training Academy, the FAA’s Transportation Safety Institute, and safety symposiums around the country.
